Design & Display

polar vantage v2 design and display

The Polar Vantage V2 has a premium-looking design whose body is made out of aluminium. This model comes with six different colours to choose from:

  • Black
  • Green
  • Grey-lime
  • White
  • Red
  • Light-pink

In Polar Vantage V, the removal of the strap was not that easy, but in this upgrade polar has now changed the whole design. They have added a little pin that you can pull out easily with your thumbnail. The band comes in two sizes, Small-Medium & Medium-large for different wrist sizes.

The Polar Vantage V2 weighs nearly 52g which makes it light in weight. And even though it is 47mm in diameter still feels small. The buttons on it are tactile & clicky. They are not just round buttons but they do have some surface area to them.

Around the back, you get Precision Prime™ heart rate sensor for monitoring your heart rate with its advanced fusion technology.

The Display of Polar Vantage V2 is the same as Polar Grit X. It features a 1.2-inch transflective display. You will find this watch to be not that bright, it is kind of similar to Garmin’s smartwatches. But that’s not a con because it is super readable in direct sunlight.

In dark, there is a gesture-based backlight that works when you raise your wrist. Also, you get a dedicated button to do the same.

For protection, the display has a Corning Gorilla Glass protection that makes your watch scratch-resistant, but don’t consider it as scratch-proof. So, be careful with it.

Activity & Fitness Tracking

polar vantage v2 activity and fitness tracking

The Polar Vantage V2 comes with a whole bunch of built-in activities such as running, trail-running, hiking, downhill skiing, treadmill, aerobics, triathlon, swimming and more. It basically covers any activities you think of.

You can also set your custom activity & track it with Polar Flow Mobile app.

In every Polar watch, notifications gets turned off while you are on activity. Meaning, you won’t be getting any type of notifications while you are busy with your activity. I consider it as a quirk because if there is any emergency text, you won’t be getting that on your wrist.

There is a Fuel-wise nutrition reminder that reminds you for activities like ultramarathons or Ironman Triathlon. You can set up a manual carbohydrates interval so that you get reminders to take in some carbohydrate every hour or so.

For fitness testing, Polar Vantage V2 has included different types of tests:

  • Orthostatic Test (NEW): to measure how much your body has recovered from your last activity.
  • Running Performance Test: to track your progress and personalize your heart rate, speed and power zones.
  • Cycling Performance Test: to personalize your power zones and tells your personal functional threshold power. (power meter required)
  • Leg Recovery Test (NEW): tells you to stand straight up with your hands on your hips and then it tells you to jump as high as you can. based on your high jumps it come up with a metric on how much you have recovered your legs.

For fitness training, Polar Vantage V2 has two tools that helps you in your training:

  • Training Load Pro: separates your cardio load from muscle load & perceived load. This gives you an idea about how your body is reacting to increased volume in your training.
  • Recovery Pro: tells you whether your body is ready for training and offers you recovery feedback right on your watch.

The Polar Vantage V2 also collects every day’s wellness data such steps count, calories burned, active time, distance travelled and more. Besides, it monitors your sleep and gives you a sleep score every time you wake up in the morning. In addition, it also record different insights of your sleep such as sleep time, stages, quality and more.
